LIGNA from 27th to 31st May 2019
at the Messe Hannover
The International Association for Technical Issues related to Wood once again took part this year as an exhibitor at LIGNA in Hanover, again in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research WKI. According to the organizer, more than 1500 exhibitors from 50 countries and more than 90,000 visitors from over 100 countries registered at the world's leading trade fair for machinery, plant and tools for woodworking and wood processing.
The iVTH presented the ERASMUS+ project “IN4WOOD”, funded by the European Union, which targets the development and provision of training programs for the fundamental technologies of Industry 4.0. The training programs are designed to enhance the relevant knowledge and capabilities of employees from the wood and furniture industries as well as of students from these sectors, thereby also strengthening the competitiveness of these often small and medium-sized companies.
The pilot phase of the project was started recently; students from the participating countries Spain, Italy, United Kingdom and Germany were thereby invited to test the online learning program. Visitors to the trade-fair stand in Hanover also had the opportunity of becoming familiar with the online training program and its approximately 300 short videos. The program met with great interest and introduced many visitors to the digital world of Industry 4.0. The pilot phase will run until mid-June: https://in4wood.eu/callpilottesting/.
